Smilezone Foundation’s mission is to make tough days a little brighter for kids receiving treatment in hospitals and health care facilities. We do this by creating fun and engaging “Smilezones” that harness the uplifting power of a smile for the kids and their families.

What We Do

We believe that every child deserves to smile, no matter what circumstances they face. Over a single weekend, our team transforms an existing waiting room, treatment room or patient care room into a Smilezone! A Smilezone provides a bright, comforting, and engaging space for children and their families while spending time in a hospital or medical facility. Our Smilezones are custom designed with features such as fresh paint, murals, furniture, cabinetry and storage, sensory items, interactive technology such as iPads/Televisions/Projectors/Video Games, and much more! We work closely with the health care centre’s frontline staff to come up with a unique design that is guaranteed to bring a smile to kids’ faces!

Our Story

The idea of Smilezone started when Adam Graves and Scott Bachly were approached to make a financial contribution to the construction of a local hospital. The request made Adam and Scott realize they wanted to make a difference, not only in their community, but in communities across the country. As fathers themselves, Adam and Scott wanted to do something that would help children facing health challenges as they have witnessed the obstacles facing families with sick children. They wanted to give kids a place to experience a break from the day-to-day battles they face; a place, quite simply, that would put a smile on a child’s face.This determination led to the creation of the Smilezone Foundation in 2012!

Our History

We completed our very first project our of Province! We worked with Alberta Health Services, KPMG and Sean Monahan with the Calgary Flames to broaden our impact to support children in Calgary, Alberta. We also surpassed 250 Smilezones!
2018
2018

An incredible 200 Smilezones had been created by the end of 2018, doubling our previous milestone in only 2 short years.

2016

We reached our first milestone of 100 Smilezones built in Ontario! We also celebrated our first ever World Smile Day event with our partnered Health Centres.

2014

During our Celebrity Golf Tournament the Bank of Montreal announced an incredibleone-million-dollar donation to Smilezone Foundation, allowing us to complete Smilezones all across Ontario for the following four years!

The first ever Smilezone was built at ErinoakKids in Mississauga, ON! Five stunning Smilezones were completed over one weekend in August kicking off the Foundation’s mission to put smiles on kids faces.
